We are at ten years distance from 1990, year of
Change. This year is started preparation for European Union . What does people think about
in my country?
So, they are confused. We want to make changes but our unconscious
behavior is although the same as many years ago. Why? And what can we do?
Some Situations are roots in communism, other are new situations
created after 1990. Perhaps the second situations are more interesting.
Is it possible to implement European models? The answer is difficult.
Yes and No m the some time. Yes because we must try and in general way occidental
democratic society are the best known until today, and no because we have so many
differences and we must keep them if we want to be ourselves.
The first problem in our mentality is that communism effect is the
destruction of human values and separation of groups. To understand that work and fair
work is the key of success is very hard for many peoples especially for rromi. To change
attitude is our important clue. It is a mistakes to talk about equality without
difference. In schools everybody knew that we began a comprehensive reform. But peoples do
not agreed entirely, especially old teachers. Of course there are good tradition that must
be protected, but our young prefer other kind of teaching, prefer to go and work far away
with many risks.
How can we make the schools better for all children? The first step was
to recognize that human being are differently, and we must promote the pluralism as an
educational politics. We try to support development of alternative schools as Waldorf,
Montessori, Step by Step. These situations create new conflicts as example that between
alternative and traditional schools. Competition is not usually accepted before 1990.
In this very moment we have many private schools initiated and
supported by many different ONG's.
Changing the character of education
We are trying to identify effective solutions to the
abovementioned problem Let me get back to the same questions is required and is feasible
in our country?
The great difficulties that educational reform is facing is the low
level of funding allocated by the Government for support and development of the
educational infrastructure, the acquisition of new assets equipment, and the payment of
attractive wages to didactic personal.
In Romania we need a different education system, one that is supported
by society. The core wages of teachers must be set only with reference to education
system, but also at budgetary level. Given a modified economical status, the scope of
teaching assignment must again be focused on permanent training, the rol of latter in the
educational a scheme, and its specific impact on society.
We need new technology in education. The national and local budget must
immediately be made to include the sums needed for building up the educations at primary
as well as the academic level. The ramifications of educations system, based on the needs
and the development of the economy as well as social and cultural life, go on. The sooner
we abandon the present centralised and egalitarian system, thus giving natural autonomy
and subsequent responsibility back to the schools, the high schools an autonous use of
scholarships, granted though national and international competition, has to be littered
from burocratic obstructions.
We need an education system that is focused on values. The relativist
mentality according to which any value is relative to its context connotes support
profound reform, nor can it motivated the indispensable efforts of performance. On the
other hand, value are manipulated by ideologists and, by so doing, we have no sufficient
reason to disqualify them as value. It is time to clear up value situation in the
education system once and for all. Education for private life becomes important.
Punctuality, veracity, discipline required for performance, respect for one's neighbour as
a human being, helps for those need receptivity to evidence, are all values that deserve
to be nurtured in educating everywhere and in all circumstances must learn from the very
truth that the individual freedoms of the modern world includes responsibility, that only
together can freedom and solidarity generate a rational community.
We need an educational system that is compatible with the other
European system, and in that way, is internationalised. The traditional of The Romanian
education system, as it existed between the Two World Wars need to be renovated in terms
so simplicity (in the positive sense) of its structure, its transparency and direct
compatibility with Euro-American structures. At the same time, the substantial dynamic in
education taking place in the countries of reference is worth considering. Education paved
the Way for European Unification.
